Voice of Devonport

What's Next?

We have achieved quite a lot in our first year and these are some of the themes we wish to pursue in the coming months:

Youth House.
We have visited several Youth House Projects including  Barnstaple. A pre-feasibility study has been completed and presented to the group and members of the community. Recommendations are now being made to its location within Devonport and a further feasibility study is currently being initiated.

Community Resource Centre.
Another of our current projects is a Community Resource for all residents of Devonport. This will be owned and run by members of the community. Plans and facilities are currently in discussion.

Devonport Column.
We are looking at the feasibility of re-opening the Column to the public. The history of the column will form part of a booklet that we are producing to highlight the many assets of Devonport, bringing tourists into the area and promoting our history.  Visiting engineers from London have recently completed a Health and Safety assessment of the column. Necessary actions resulting from this assessment are currently in discussion for feasibility. Interested members of new Devonport developments and the community have shown their enthusiasm by taking part in a petition to restore the iconic landmark.

A “Voice” in our new Primary Care Centre.
A “Voice” on the new Public Art Commissioning
   Strategy.
To view Vision Zone D drawings in immediate future
   and other planning applications.
Possibility of occasional informal coffee mornings to
chat about progress for those who don’t wish to attend
   formal or evening meetings.
